1080p Televisions
![]() 1080p tvs are generally made for high definition television (HDTV). The term 1080p refers to the TV's resolution, and the number refers to the amount of horizontal lines of vertical resolution. Thus, a 1080p television has 1,080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution, as opposed to the 720 lines offered by a 720p television. Generally, more lines of resolution produce a better screen image. The letter "p" indicates that a 1080p television image is progressively scanned rather than interlaced, such as 1080i televisions. Although the difference is insignificant for smaller televisions, a 1080p resolution is usually recommended for HDTVs greater than 32 inches in size. |
